Protect Your Noggin With Harley Davidson Motorcycle Helmets

To wear or not to wear; that seems to be the question when it comes to helmets and the motorcycle world.  We all know that wearing a calibre helmet can save your life, so there should be no debate.  Some says don’t make you wear a helmet, but then again some says also let you smoke in restaurants.

Just because you don’t have to wear a helmet everywhere you travel doesn’t mean you shouldn’t.  Don’t purchase that jive about it impedes the freedom of the open road or makes you less of a biker.  That is masculine craziness.  I have personally crashed and seen the crack down the middle of the helmet that should have been my open skull.   I won’t accept any reason to not wear one.

So now that we have covered why you should wear a helmet, let’s run down on what makes a good one.

DOT Approved:  Make sure any helmet you purchase is approved by the DOT.  All DOT helmets are clearly marked so if you don’t see it then it isn’t approved.  Not only does this insure it meets the minimum country stipulations but it also will keep Johnny Law off your rear end.

Style:  Helmets come in a variety of styles that offer different coverage.  There are half helmets, like many Harley Davidson helmets, that cover your dome but that about it.  Then there are ¾ helmets and full face.  The more coverage the less wind you get.  Most people I know love half Harley Davidson motorcycle helmets.

Cost:  You get what you pay for.  Shell out the money because a trip to the unit costs way more!  If you’re looking for a deal make sure to go online to find the ideal prices.  Dealerships will often blow out overstocked helmets online.

Comfort:  Try on different helmets and find out what works ideal for you.  Size, style and brand are all going to make a difference.

Retention:  Put the helmet on and near the back up.  If the helmet slips off you have the wrong size or are not tightening the chin strap enough.  Retighten and if it does it again try another one.  You want to make sure it stays place when or if you hit the pavement.

I ride a Harley so I personally enjoy the fit and calibre of Harley Davidson motorcycle helmets provide.  They come in a variety of styles, colors, designs and set ups to cover all of your needs.

Harley doesn’t slap its study on sub standard accessories so if you’re looking for a great piece of riding gear to protect your head then make sure you check out Harley Davidson helmets.
